About

Welcome to Grünau! We invite you to take a walk on the Grünau regatta grounds. This acoustic panorama with 16 stations provides insights, views and retrospectives in which athletes, contemporary witnesses and experts will have their say.

Dive into the beginnings of rowing in Berlin, learn about the Olympic Games during National Socialism, and how the political ideologies behind colonialism and sport play off of each other. You’ll listen to commentary about athletic competitions in the imperial era and in the GDR, learn how norms and aesthetics around athletic physicality evolved during the 20th century. Along the way, tune into immersive, contemporary soundscapes from this historic site, which has seen regattas since 1868 and that has been a venue to a world of sport since then.

The accoustic panorama is best experienced on site. For the best audio experience please put on headphones. If you want to see your location on the map, grant access by pressing the localization button. Move to the flashing station and start the audio playback by pressing the button.
