The life-size sculpture of a naked young man stands in the bushes. It conveys the idealized body image of male rowers in competitive sports: narrow hips, broad shoulders and pronounced musculature. The sculpture, commissioned in 1968, also provokes reflection on the competition between East and West Germany, which was also played out in sports. At this station, museum director Veronika Springmann reflects on body ideals and exclusion — but also inclusion — in sports.
